Vogue Knitting/Crochet Videos!

While I was surfing my Twitter account, I ran across the designer Robyn Chachula's blog at crochet by faye While I was reading her posts she had a video describing her design that appeared in the Vogue Knitting Crochet Edition Wow! What can I say, Vogue does everything classy. They have made these youtube videos that show's up close details and a description of some of the projects in the Crochet Edition magazine. Just watch this one:

Doesn't it just make you want to make this gorgeous shawl even more than the still shots? I was so impressed and I thought they were very helpful. I hope you enjoy them and have a great weekend!

Flying W Ranch Burned to the ground

This was taken at the Flying W Ranch Friday, June 22, 2012. We didn't know this would be the last dinner and show they would perform before the entire ranch burned on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. I am so sad and sending lots of prayers to the owners and all the families affected by the Waldo Canyon Fire.

Baby Giraffe for Baby Emma!

Meet baby Emma's new baby giraffe toy...

I know...isn't she something else? (Not sure what but she is something?) Please don't look to close...this little baby giraffe is far from perfect. This is my first attempt at Amigurumi, I'm sure you can tell.

There is nothing straight on this little baby. Everything is crooked, which I hope adds to the charm. My daughter laughed when I gave it to her and said she loved it. Not sure the laughing was a good thing. She was borderline Hysterical laughing!

Well, all I can say is I'm so glad it's over and I will not make anything, (teddy bears, etc.) again in the near future. I am not saying never again because I may have a total lapse of memory and want to make another little something. But...I hope I don't forget what a pain in the a** this was to make.  So...if you are glutton for punishment...here is the pattern and details on Ravelry.

More tah dah's coming soon!

Pinterest: Things I want to make in 2012...

These are a few of the things I would like to make this year.

Since 2012 is half over it looks like I better get busy! Lol

All of these are from Pinterest and the source is listed.

I Love this infinity scarf, the color and the design is just beautiful.

You remember this sidewalk shawl? I bought all of the "special" yarn for it and haven't started it yet! I've been busy crocheting "Baby Emma's" things that she will need when she arrives in August! I have my priorities you know. :)

Now that I have the book...I want to make this really soon!

I love this! Pammy Sue hasn't sent me the link yet so I can get started. If anyone else has it could you send it to me at echrisjohn@gmail.com? Thanks so much!

This one isn't exactly what I am going to make but it has the colors of one that I started a while back.

I still can't show you what I've been making because I have to wait until I give them to my daughter. Hopefully that will be soon. One thing I am saving for her shower on July 15th so it will probably be after that before I can go crazy posting pictures. I may just have to whip up a few pot holders or scarves because I am having "blogger comments withdrawal". :) Seriously...I miss you guys. I've only had my blog for a little over a year and now when I finish an item I can't wait to take pictures and get it posted so I can hear what you think about it! Crazy huh? How did I do it before? I really think I am a "comments" junky! I love them! Oh well, soon I will know your opinions on all the fun projects I've done. Thanks you guys. I'm glad you're here.

Happy Crocheting!

A Peak at My Crochet Books

A peak inside some of my new Crochet books...

Annie's Attic Chemo Caps & Wraps is a beautifully photographed book with cancer survivors and surviving family members as models.

The patterns are for caps and shawls/wraps, etc. None of them are plain or super easy. Each one is a very classy project that anyone would love to own. These projects would also make great gifts for friends and family.

Edie Eckman's The Crochet Answer Book is a must have book for anyone that crochets. From the novice to the expert, this book does have all the answers.

There aren't any pretty pictures to look at but lots of diagrams to show you exactly what she is talking about. It's small and compact to fit in your project bag to take with you anywhere as a reference. I highly recommend this book!

Another book by Edie Eckman called Around the Corner Crochet Borders.

Now this one has beautiful photograph and colors. Each one has a written pattern and a chart pattern to follow. There are also a few tips on choosing the right size border for your project. I will never have to worry about what border to add on any of my afghans. This book has everything from wide lacy, elaborate patterns to small, simple borders. She also discusses color choices and the difference it can make when you use them in borders. This book is Amazing!

Okay, I have to be honest...I only bought this book for one pattern. The Bobble Zig Zag ripple that Astri from Apple Blossom Dreams
I looked everywhere and couldn't fine a pattern that I liked as well so I had to buy the book.

200 Ripple Stitch Patterns by Jan Eaton

Now this book has both knit and crochet ripple stitch patterns. When I first heard about this book I though there can't be that many different ways to do a ripple. Boy, was I wrong. This will be a book I will use often. I love doing ripples and there are so many different ones that I will never be board. Some are vintage looking and some are the soft wave ripple or even a super sharp pointy ripple but my favorite is still the Bobble Zig Zag ripple and I can't wait to make it. If you knit and crochet this book is all the better for you.  I don't knit and have no desire to learn but I would recommend it to those of us that love to do afghans and such.

That's it for today. I hope this was helpful to some of you thinking of buying any of these books. Hopefully I will have pictures up of my projects sometime this weekend.

Happy Crocheting!

New Books Have Arrived!

Hello Blog Friends!!

Looky what I got in the mail over the weekend.

I am so excited and I have to tell you...

All of these are worth every penny. I wasn't disappointed in any of them. They are awesome. I will be taking some pictures of the inside and do more of a book "review" later but for now I just wanted to let you know that I got them.

Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman

I haven't received this one yet so not sure it is as wonderful as the others but...I have heard great things about this Ripple book from some of you that have it.It is supposed to arrive tomorrow so we shall see.

Also, I have been busy with several projects lately but I can't show them to you until I give them to my daughter, (she reads my blog, isn't that sweet!!) Anyhoo, I can't wait to show them to you and see what you think. A big hint...

They are things I have never in my life made before and one of them I can safely say I will NEVER make again! Lol!

So...stay tuned for some new projects coming soon!
