Hook Size Dilemma

Yarn New Colors by EMCphotos
Yarn New Colors, a photo by EMCphotos on Flickr.
Well...this picture saved me! Thanks to Nancy who said:

I forget which hook I use on projects too:) But I found 2 ideas to help that over the years. I bought a zillion hook sets, so I can leave my hook with the project when it gets put aside. Or, when I take pictures of the project, I make sure the hook is in the pic so I can see it later :)

I usually leave my hook with my project but I only have two H hooks and I used an H on my baby blanket so I must have removed it from the bag!!

So...I enlarged this picture and could barely make out it was an H hook. Yay! Problem solved!

Another great Idea from Debi who said:

A little trick to keep track of your hook size you are using: get some safety pins and some letter beads - insert the letter you are using on the safety pin and pin to your project.

Mindy suggested:

It was suggested to me to use the little plastic tabs on bread bags. Write your hook size on it, and hook it through your loop. It keeps your stitch and hook size all in one. ;-)

Susan also has this problem and suggested:

I hate when I put a project down and then I am never sure if I used a G or H hook (my two usual hooks). Sometimes now I take a photo of the work in progress and put the hook in the photo in case I forget. I can't wait to see the finished photo!
Thank you all so much for your tips and suggestions. It was so comforting to know I am not the only one with this problem. I have to say, I didn't expect this great response for my little dilemma but all you ladies came to my rescue and without you I would be trying both my "go to" hooks, G and H and trying to tell which one matched the work I had already done. Not a fun task for sure. Thanks for sharing!

Happy Crocheting!

Granny Stripe -Progress

Now that I have finished the baby blanket, I am moving back to my Granny Stripe in Blues, Greens, and Yellows. I am anxious to finish this one. It's so pretty with the summery colors and will get good use this winter. I just wish I could remember what size hook I was using...LOL! Do any of you ever do that? Set a project aside and when you go back to it you can't remember which hook you were using? I should document everything. Hey, maybe I put it on my Ravelry page. I'll go check that out now. No such luck. Oh well, I'll figure it out!  I'll keep you posted on my progress!

Tah Dah!!! BabyBlanket is finished!

BabyBlanket by EMCphotos
BabyBlanket, a photo by EMCphotos on Flickr.
I am so excited I got this finished just in time to send with my friend for her daughter. The baby shower is Sunday in Chicago so...my friend leaves for Chicago tonight. Whew, I barely made it. Oh well, I hope she likes it.
It's very soft and a cotton/acrylic, 50/50 yarn. It should wash up nicely. I deviated from the pattern on the border with just a pretty, delicate picot border. I thought the border with the pattern was too big for such a delicate blanket. Oh well, it's finally done and I can move on to some of my other UFOs.

The project is on my Ravelry!
I hope you are all having a great week!
